New Principal at YPA

We are delighted to announce that Kayser Izard has been appointed Principal of Young People’s Academy.

Ms Izard joins us with a wealth of experience in SEND and teaching, saying:

“I have taught in a number of schools, in different boroughs, in London. This includes mainstream and alternative provision settings. My teaching specialism is Mathematics, and I started my teaching journey as a special needs teaching assistant in a Maths department. It was here that I saw the impact I could have on our young people and decided to train to become a teacher.

My first three weeks at YPA have shown me how hard the staff work in providing our students with the best opportunities.

It has been a pleasure to see the students engaged in a variety of sessions. I have seen fantastic careers lessons where students were looking at writing CVs for their future. I saw a group of students fully engaged in a game of Dungeons and Dragons. It was a delight to hear about the current Y11 students who have already achieved a Functional Skills qualification in Maths.
I want to thank Ms Thomas for leading the school during the first half term and I will continue to build on this.

The relationship between home and school is extremely important to me, and I look forward to meeting parents and carers and working with them and our school community.”

YPA has a good understanding and built a rapport with my son. He has been happy and well cared for to the point where he has met his full potential and thrived. The right balance and structure has provided for my son’s complex needs. Thank you for your continuous support.  Parent
