A trip to Sutton Life Centre

On Tuesday the 4th December year 7 and 8 students went on an educational PSHE trip to Sutton life centre. Sutton Life Centre is a unique, state of the art educational and community facility in South London promoting good citizenship and personal safety.

Students got to experience 4 different exciting and stimulating educational sections at Sutton Life Centre, each section designed to give students a real life scenario. The street experience (featuring shops), the transport experience (designed like a train station with a platform and train track), the home experience (consisted of different rooms, bedroom, kitchen, front room and lounge) and the virtual experience (A 360° white room which uses video, graphics, sound and lighting to recreate a range of virtual worlds from derelict buildings to the tropical rain forests).

Each experience gave students dilemmas, difficult choices and scenarios that young children deal with when growing up.

All students thoroughly enjoyed transitioning into each experience and felt inspired by the young children’s dilemmas that they watched and have gained skills that will help ensure they continue to be positive members in their community.

YPA has a good understanding and built a rapport with my son. He has been happy and well cared for to the point where he has met his full potential and thrived. The right balance and structure has provided for my son’s complex needs. Thank you for your continuous support.  Parent
